Back then, I had it all.
Wicked fastball. Killer instinct. Cocky grin. Full package.
(And believe me, I knew how to score.)
My senior year, I was a first round draft pick with a two-million-dollar signing bonus. Before I could even legally buy myself a beer, I made my Major League debut.

Point is, I was invincible.
Until one day I wasn’t.

After tanking my career—during the World Series, no less—the last thing I want to do is return to my hometown, where every jerk in a ball cap has an opinion about what went wrong with my arm.
So when my sister drags me back to town for her wedding, I vow to get in and out of there as quickly as possible.
Then I run into April Sawyer.

In high school we were just friends, but I’d always wanted her, and I’d never forgotten her—the red hair, the incredible smile, the crazy, reckless thing we did in the back of my truck the night we said goodbye.

It’s been eighteen years, but one look at her and I feel like my old self again. I can still make her laugh, she can still take me down a notch, and when the chemistry between us explodes, it’s even hotter this time around—and I don’t want it to end.

But just when I think I’m ready to let go of the past and get back in the game, life throws me a curveball I never saw coming.

Are you kidding me? He knew she had the kid and still left her for 18 years!!! And this is a romance book....and I am suppose to root for him to reconnect after 18 years of being a baseball star prob sleeping with a bunch of women. None of the reviews I saw mentioned this!

"But I knew that eighteen years ago, April Sawyer had given birth to one. And it had been mine."

I read a few more chapters and am disgusted how the heroine was written to just be ok with the fact he never even called her to ask if she had given birth ok or anything. The author just writes her saying she was glad he didn't and it was fine. It's such manipulative writing to make her have no anger over what happened 🙄

Well written, and mostly likeable characters, but the male lead, Tyler Shaw, was SELFISH. April gets pregnant - and promptly lets Tyler off the hook. He's got a valuable career in baseball to focus on. April gets to suffer for 18 years, wondering about the child she gave up for adoption. Tyler did a lot of growing up in this story, but he irritated me, although he seemed to be able to charm the pants off of April and all the females in this story.

And then SPOILER ALERT - he leaves again, but this time for April's own good.
I'm still giving this a 3.7 out of 5, rounded up to a 4, just because it was often sweet. April was a selfless person: so warm and giving and considerate of others. Tyler was her total opposite! Still, lots of great chemistry, yearning, and a terrific HEA, which I know we all need during these trying times. I'm glad Tyler put on his big boy pants and stopped running when things got tough.
(The adoption storyline was a bit anti-climactic. I was expecting a bit more about that and felt a bit cheated when it all got summed up pretty quickly, like an afterthought.)

I did enjoy this one, despite the lead male's immaturity; but hey, if you want character growth, you have to have flawed characters, right?

P.S. Wow, I'm reading my own review after a large lapse of time and I'm screeching: "Whaaaaaat?!" I've read a few of Melanie Harlow's novels and enjoyed them. I think I was being kind with my rating, because just reading my review infuriated me, forget about rereading the book! See, even I was falling under that guy's spell. It is okay to forgive someone, but NOT okay not to own up to your selfish behaviour.

AHHH!!! I swear Melanie Harlow's stories are like coming home for me. I have loved the Cloverleigh Farms series since book one and finally getting April's story is just icing on the cake. I knew it would equally gut me and make me swoon but seeing her and Tyler together, their past and their present just rocked me to my core. I loved their passion and their emotional connection and could not get enough of their beautiful love story!! Harlow did it again!

Gah!! Tyler Shaw was everything I love in my book heroes and then some. He was grumpy, cocky and arrogant but also with a heart of gold. And April Sawyer was the kryptonite that flayed him. There is just something about the way Harlow pens second chance romances. I felt the draw and attraction between them right away down to the depths of my heart. I equally rooted for and wept for them and what they went through in the past but could not love them more. Both Tyler and April not only had to face their pasts before even thinking about their future, but they needed to reconcile the issues within themselves. This beautiful story touched me like only a Melanie Harlow story can. It was sexy, emotional, poignant and filled to the brim with the sexy chemistry and banter I live for. This was another gold star hit in this incredible series! Bravo! 5 stars! ~Ratula

Sweet lord, Unforgettable certainly ended the fantastic Cloverleigh Farms series with one hell of a bang! From the start, I knew April’s story would be the one that broke me—and it was, when I needed tissues at about 10%!

I loved how April grew in strength and love of her family and herself throughout the series, but not more than when she finally admitted her past and confronted it too. I loved April’s resiliency and ability to finally forgive herself for decisions she made when she was a teenager. And for keeping her secret from her sisters.

And, wowza, did I love April together with Tyler Shaw.

Tyler’s got his own cross to bear too. He’s the town baseball star who can no longer play. His whole self-worth is tied up in playing ball—at least in his own mind. And it’s April who finally helps him realize he has much more to offer than being known for choking on the mound in the World Series.

I loved seeing April and Tyler fall in love—for real this time around. To finally give into what they both thought were unrequited feelings. Their attraction to each other—even after eighteen years—hadn’t lessened and I loved their passion and deep-rooted connection.

Unforgettable is truly a second-chance story. Second chance to make things right. Second chance to make a different choice. Second chance to share secrets. Second chance to find love and live the life that’s finally within grasping distance. And be sure to have some tissues handy—you’ll need them! ~ Missy, 5 stars

-“Something about being here feels right to me, and I haven’t felt that in a long time.”

IMG-0873

Tyler Shaw was a high school baseball star and a first round draft pick who skyrocketed to fame making millions as a MLB pitcher. He was invincible until he wasn’t. One moment at the word series shatters all his dreams. One minute he’s on top of the world, and in the next minute, it’s all gone, and he goes from feeling like a winner to feeling like an embarrassment. Baseball was his life, and his destiny. He was never more himself than when he was on the field. With his confidence and career shot, he didn’t know what to do with the rest of his life. Without baseball he didn’t know who he was. He’s now a reclusive loner in California who prefers to be at his cabin in the mountains hiding out and brooding. Then his little sister calls and summons him to come back to their hometown in northern Michigan because she’s getting married. He isn’t thrilled about it, but Sadie is the only family he has left. He’s determined to get back home to San Diego as soon as possible, but then he runs into April Sawyer and things take a detour. She was a high school friend he’d always wanted and never forgotten. He hasn’t seen her in eighteen years, but one look at her, and he feels like he’s a teenager again. She familiar and feels like home. She makes him laugh, and tells it like it is. As they reconnect he feels comfort in the fact that he can be himself with her. Will she give him hope for the future, or will life throw him another curveball?

IMG-0901

April Sawyer is the second oldest of the five Sawyer sisters. She’s an event planner at their family owned business Cloverleigh Farms. She loves her job, but feels like she has an unfinished chapter in her life, and wants to work on herself. She has regrets, and struggles from her past, and wants to get married and have a family someday. She wants to find her person like her sister’s have. Then she crosses paths with Tyler Shaw. She hasn’t seen him since they graduated high school, but he’s still just as gorgeous as she remembers. Things heat up between them as they rediscover their chemistry. The emotional connection that had always been there is just as strong, and being with him felt easy. She quickly realizes this beautiful man matters to her, but will he be able to give her the happily ever after she deserves?

IMG-0906

Unforgettable by Melanie Harlow is the fifth and final book in the Cloverleigh Farms series. April and Tyler’s story is a heartwarming, emotional, friends to lovers, second chance, sports romance that will capture your heart. It’s the perfect ending to an amazing series!!!

I’ve read this series all out of order, but I was so happy to get to April and Tyler’s book! Now I need to go back and finish the one or two I skipped ;)

Tyler and April are friends in high school and after they graduate it turns into something more. That night was a big deal to them both, but it was one night. Now eighteen years have passed and Tyler, who has been out playing MLB is back into town for his sister’s wedding, and there is April.

There is a lot in this story that I don’t want to talk about because of spoilers and it was such a beautiful and interesting twist. Tyler needed to get it together through part of the book, but he came around. April was amazing. I loved her. Overall this was a great book. I think it handled a sensitive topic so well!

It is a bitter sweet ending to a Cloverleigh's girls. 5 of them all. I was hoping for a big bang to finish this series. But I only get mediocre ending.

I know Miss Harlow focusing the story on pregnancy and adoption. And she writes it with gusto together with her romantic signature. What stop me short for giving this book 4 stars is April. Her character is hard to understand. For me, if I met my baby daddy after 18 years, I would not agreeing to have dinner just like that. Like nothing happens.

I like Tyler. He is a complex character. Not in a sense of dramatic way. He was so focus on his baseball career that he forgot how to be himself. A sensitive, kind, fun loving hero. I am glad he finally gets his head out of his ass at the end.

Friends to Lovers | Second Chance Romance

I am so bummed that this is the final book in the Cloverleigh Farms series. This entire series makes up some of my favorite books over the past few years and knowing I won’t be getting another one makes me so sad. Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited to see what she brings us next, but I have sentimental feelings for each of these novels. Sigh…

Unforgettable is the 5th and final book in the series. This one features April, one of the 5 sisters within the series (each have their own book) and an old friend (and one-time lover), Tyler. April and Tyler haven’t seen each other in 18 years. But when they reconnect at his sister’s wedding old memories surface and the two are forced to face old feelings and traumas that link them together. Melanie does a wonderful job at weaving a story about two emotionally unavailable people, both who suffer differently but can connect on their feelings because they may be similar than one would originally think. Tyler is a wounded hero; he used to play ball but can no longer do so because of an arm injury, and April is an emotionally wounded woman who suffers from past transgressions. Can the two come together again and build more memories that will this time last a lifetime? You’ll find out in Unforgettable.

Once again, Melanie Harlow delivers an emotional and sweet tale of two people who belong together. She writes her characters with relatable characteristics and uses care when it comes to the issues they are facing. I am so glad to have read, loved, and enjoyed each one of these stories and hope she’ll write something similar in the near future. I highly recommend this one!

I LIKED IT A LOT!!

5 Grown-Up Love Stars
* * * * *
There is something to be said when a successful series comes to an end...SUCCESSFULLY. Not all of them do. Melanie Harlow's Cloverleigh Farms has had an amazing run and to close it off with this story of Tyler and April was perfect.

I am a huge fan of stories that allow the characters to be able to set aside issues in a mature fashion. The first crossing April and Tyler had of friendship to something more happened 18 years ago when both of these characters were young, one on his way to his destiny and her going to college. There were consequences and the deep scarring of what was the result impacted both of them equally but in very different ways.

April,
now successful as the wedding and event planner at the farm has finally been able to work out her issues with the help of her therapist. She has made huge progress and is making strides to becoming free of her pain.

Tyler, on the other hand, has not dealt with handling his pain. The pain he experienced for everyone to see...literally was on the mound of the World Series. He was THE MAN in baseball at the time and his pitching was in the record books for his fastball and curveball. He was impossible to hit.

And then on network television broadcasted on the world stage, he got the Yips. This is the dreaded term used when a pitcher has no control of the ball...it just doesn't go where it is aimed and is caused by nothing physical. It is a mental thing. Tyler had it bad and there was nothing he could do. From that day on, after trying everything, his arm was gone and he had to quit baseball.

Quitting baseball and losing his ability like that was like amputating his legs or arms or cutting out his heart and soul. You see, Tyler felt all he was, was baseball, and what he could do with the ball.
He never felt he had any other value and the fans, unfortunately never let him forget it. By living quietly by himself in a big house away from everyone, Tyler thought this was it.

Side Note

But sometimes he had to leave his fortress and when his sweet sassy sister informed him she was getting married, Tyler knew he had to drag himself out of seclusion, come home and be there with a smile on his face. He would submit to all the armchair jocks, hear all of their sure-fire remedies for his throwing issues as politely as he could without slamming them against any walls. That was how much he loved his sis.

What both April and Tyler weren't prepared for was literally running into each other on the early morning track.

April, being Sadie's wedding planner knew Tyler was coming back and had played out seeing him, how she would look and what she would say many times. She would look her most professional, be polite, and just the right amount of friendly. Now he was seeing her sweaty, in running shorts with no makeup and hair messy, drooping down out of her ponytail.

For Tyler, he was surprised to see April because he thought she was still in NYC. He was just as sweaty and had been out running but April thought he looked way better than her. If she could have read Tyler's mind, he was so pleased to see April and thought she was looking just fine, in fact cute.

They talk for a bit, both easy but careful with each other. When April looks at Tyler, she has a lot happening in her head and how he plays in her past. When Tyler looks at April, he thinks of her fondly and is kind of surprised how she plays in his mind.

Now, this is the real start and I was so thrilled with how Ms. Harlow addressed real serious life experiences that happen between people in Everyday Life. She took something very important, had both characters talk it through, and have them work on it together.

And they also worked on the attraction they still had for each other. They had humor together, steam together and we could happily see how well they meshed. Now everything wasn't without hiccups for the couple...but in the end, it was resolved realistically for me.

Since this was set at the farm, we were able to have interaction with all our favorite couples. We were updated about family growth and loves. This book covered all the bases and felt like a home run to me...

“When I’m with you, I know where I belong. I never want to be anywhere else. I miss you when you’re not there. I’m the most me when I’m with you—because you’re the only one who sees the real me.” He took a breath. “Wherever you are is home to me. And I don’t want to leave home again.”

idk i just find tyler (H) the most disgusting human on earth. a self centered, selfish bastard who gives no fucks about anyone or anything. no no its not the good find of “asshole” hero. he was just an ass with no fucking remorse.

i do not understand why april (h) had to have the most disgusting hero out of this whole series. I LIKED HER i wanted all the fucking best for her. ugh idk i was so triggered throughout this whole book.

i thought april would be this girl who holds her own bla bla bla but she’s so soft for him its disgusting. he’s a fucking pig and she’s letting him walk all over her. i’m so pissed.

I haven't given many 5-star ratings so far this year but I think this book deserves it.

If you had asked me if I like the second chance trope before I started reading this book I would probably have said no, but as it seems I do like it. Or maybe Melanie Harlow wrote a great book with that trope, I don't know and I don't really care.

I loved it. Simple as that. I only have read the first book in the series which I didn't enjoy that much but this one was definitely a winner for me. I wasn't even bothered that it takes place in a small town (which I also don't usually like). Both MCs were great and I loved the whole grumpy-sunshine thing. And you may call me naive but I really didn't see that plot twist coming.

It's not the best book I've ever read but I had a great time reading it and I'll definitely read the rest of the books in the series. 5 ⭐

The perfect conclusion to a very good series. I cried in certain parts not gonna lie, this book was less fun (but it still was, no worries) but more emotional. I appreciated how the author approached the adoption theme in this book. It was truly well done and so delicate. The guilt discussion of "leaving your baby behind" even if it's for the best but also working on accepting there's nothing wrong in not being ready and giving them the best life they could ever have. I adored how therapy was present in this book, it showed the importance of asking for help and it deserves all the praise for it. Let's talk about it more people!! Let's break this stigma of therapy taboo talks. It's important. Overall this series was truly one of the best small town I've ever read. There was not unneccesary drama and it was truly fun. My favorite is without any doubts book 4 but I still absolutely adored this one too.

I think the fact I did this book as audio was the right choice, otherwise, who knows what would happen... I liked the positive shine on adoption!! other than that both April and Taylor were meh.. especially him who was acting immature at 36, same as when he was 18.

If you want to a sweet, close-knit family, small-town romance centered around sisters, check this series out!!

April and Tyler were friends as teenagers and she often helped him out with his schoolwork but there was never anything romantic between them. There was definitely a mutual attraction but he was a talented baseball player and completely focused on going to college and being drafted. Tyler lived a very disciplined life when he realised his passion for playing baseball was going to lead to a career.

The night before Tyler heads to college he spends it with April, one thing leads to another and he ends up doing things with April he’d been fantasising about. Eighteen years later and April is working as the events coordinator for her family business, Cloverleigh Farms and is single. Truth be told she is at the point in her life where she would dearly love to meet some, settle down and have a family. All of her sisters have found love in the past couple of years and she really wants that too.

Tyler has just recently retired from baseball. He has had an amazing, successful pitching career and then one day it all just ended. Things just didn’t click anymore and after trying everything he could to turn things around, he retired and secluded himself away from the world. Now his sister Sadie is getting married and he is returning to his hometown for her special day.

April is planning Sadie’s wedding and is really happy to see Tyler again. Damn that man has gotten even more handsome with age. It is great to catch up with her and remember all the fun times they had together. For him, it’s nice to be around someone who isn’t pestering him about what went wrong with baseball and he can just be himself. The more time they spend together he begins to question what he really wants for the rest of his life.

Tyler had been feeling like his life was over but being with April is showing him that life has only really just begun. After being so focused on his career for so long, he had lost the feeling of contentment. Being happy, comfortable and just enjoying each day without the added pressure of his career is something he is getting used to. He is beginning to envision a completely different future for both of them.

Real life means that not every day will be smooth and when things get tough again Tyler’s insecurities lead him away from April. However, once he is alone he realises that she is truly unforgettable to him in every way and it takes him being away from her to realise it.

This is the fifth story in the Cloverleigh Farms and it was loving getting glimpses of the lives of the characters from the previous books

4.5 STARS

I always end a Melanie Harlow book with a smile on my face and love in my heart. Unforgettable is a second chance romance. Both the main characters are well into their 30s. They were childhood friends. The hero was a super star baseball player struggling with what do do now that his career was over. The heroine is our last single Sawyer sister. This was a sweet story about love, forgiveness, family, and finding yourself.

I voluntarily read an early copy.

What a wonderful wrap up to this series! I'm so happy that Ms Harlow waited for the last book to be April's.

This story touched me even deeper than the rest because of the adoption theme since I was adopted and reconnected with my birth mother later in life. The joy of April and Tyler brought back many memories. This was touching, joyful, a bit of angst and so much more.

It's sad to see the Sawyer sisters' stories end but the journey was delightful!

It's official. I'm a sucker for Harlow's broken heroes.

Sebastian. Jack. And now Tyler. Secrets. Compulsions. Skeletons.

Don't misunderstand. The stories aren't super angsty, but these men are a little tortured and vulnerable. Things men aren't supposed to be. Men are supposed to be strong and built like a fortress, never admitting their feelings.

Harlow finds ways to write these men into romantic stories of love and redemption and second chances and sometimes even a secondary topic that completely humanizes the characters and the story. Adoption. Autism. Disabled veterans. Mental illness. All with care and research and sensitivity.

And this is why she is one of my favorite writers.

I loved the chemistry and friendship between April and Tyler. There was heat and passion (not just sexually). There was comfort and trust and honesty. And family.

I know I've rambled but the story was so good.

Highly recommend

Good small town romance read.

I can always count on Melanie Harlow for an easy small town romance read. This one is a unique take on second chance, and has some angst, but it’s just the right amount. I’ve only read a couple of the books in this series and it was easy enough to follow along.

I have adored this series. I didn’t have a sister, just three smelly brothers. I didn’t even get a girl child, just three boys made of slugs and snails and puppy dog tails. To read books with lovely close sister relationships makes me happy.

So April Sawyer, sister number two by birth but the last to get a book. The sensible one. But the sensible one who made a mistake and that mistake sort of put her life on pause. No spoilers, I’m not saying what the mistake was.

Tyler Shaw was a local boy who became a superstar. Then life crashed and burned and he hid himself away and licked his wounds in private. But then he comes back home. And home means reacquainting with April. Two people looking for the next direction in life.

Unforgettable totally had my heart but the end of this book is the key to why this book and this series is so lovely. It’s got love, kindness, forgiveness, friendship and family at the heart of it. It’s about finding your home, I don’t mean a house, I mean finding a purpose and all of the pieces coming together.

“It’s not just about the ballfield. It’s not about strikeouts or home runs or the speed of a fastball. In the end, it’s about who’s there for you, and why. Through the highs and lows, the wins and the losses. It’s about the people who love and support you through anything because of who you are, not what you do. It’s about family.”

I know Melanie finished writing this book when the world is turned on its axis and I think this quote is so pertinent to what we are going through:

“This is a place where family means more than just DNA. It means opening our doors and our hearts to strangers. It means showing up for our neighbors. It means reaching out when you know someone needs it. It means forgiveness, acceptance, compassion, joy. And it’s that feeling you get when you know you’re home.”

A beautiful ending to a beautiful heartfull series.
